The Taupo area offers a rich array of activities for people of all ages – whether you prefer excitement and adventure or a quieter pace. Lake Taupo is the largest fresh water lake in Australasia and feeds the Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest river. It is a breathtakingly beautiful place, with views on a clear day from the Taupo town centre across the lake to the snowy peak of Mount Ruapehu. Taupo is an outdoor recreation paradise, with large stocks of brown and rainbow trout for fishing, excellent golf facilities, picturesque walkways, all kinds of boating, and easy access to the ski slopes of Ruapehu. It also hosts a number of sporting events such as Ironman. Glen Tui is ideally situated for you to experience Taupo, just 10 minutes north of the town centre and 2 minutes from the Wairakei Thermal Resort and the Wairakei International Golf Course – one of the finest golf courses in the world.

Within 10 minutes of Glen Tui, you can visit the impressive Huka Falls. Stand on a footbridge while nearly 220,000 litres per second of water thunder through a narrow passageway beneath you. Or take a boat ride right up to the base of the falls. Further downstream, visit the Aratiatia Dam and watch the floodgates open at regular times throughout the day to create the Aratiatia Rapids. Also near Glen Tui is Lava Glass, a fascinating café and gallery where you can watch the art of glassblowing, and the Honey Hive & Meadery, with over 600 bee-related products on sale and interactive displays on beekeeping.
